Hello Falcon Families -

We can hardly believe that we are at the time of year for fall conferences!  We are looking forward to meeting virtually and discussing how we can best support your student and your family.  More information about how to schedule and what to expect during virtual conferences is below.

Other ways to stay connected and get support (both academically and for social and emotional needs) are included in our newsletter:

  • Reminders on how to access and navigate Power School as a parent
  •  Our CKSD Wellness Tip of the Week
  •  Free Online Tutoring
  •  Clubs are up and running! Have your student join one to connect with friends who enjoy the same activities :)
  •  Our School-Based Health Clinic and our Student Assistance Program are always available to help students and families - contact information is available below

As the weather gets cooler, please reach out and let us know if your family needs support with cold weather apparel - we can help!

Stay safe and stay connected Falcons

Hello Falcon Families!

Do you have Parent Access for your child’s Powerschool account? This is a great way to stay up-to-date on your child’s progress, grades, assignments, and more. We want to share with you how to get your login credentials and how to navigate Powerschool as a parent. Please watch this video to learn more.

If you prefer, you can visit our district website to learn about Powerschool. Click here for detailed instructions for setting up a Powerschool account.

As always, please let us know how we can help. Have a great week!

Weekly Wellness -

Life is difficult to navigate right now, especially for our children.  It is hard to see your child struggle with deep sadness, impairing anxiety, or intense anger.  The helplessness we can feel as caregivers can feel overwhelming.  It can be painful to listen to or witness these struggles, particularly when you feel you're doing all you can and are overextended with all your other responsibilities.  There are some ways to help when you're feeling unsure about what else to do, one of them is using LEARN.

We will be holding Parent Teacher conferences virtually this year. They will be scheduled and conducted through Falcon Focus classes.  Each family will be meeting with your student’s Falcon Focus teacher only.

How do I schedule my conference? You should see a Sign-up Genius email invitation from your student’s Falcon Focus teacher. Sign-up Genius will give you options of times that are available to sign up for conferences.

How will I join / attend the conference?  We will be using Zoom as our platform to conduct conferences. The link to log onto your conference will be included / listed in your Sign-up Genius invitation.  If you have questions about how to use Zoom, this is a good introductory video.

How long will each conference be? We have allowed 20 minutes for each conference.

What content will we be discussing in the conference? We have asked students to come prepared to conferences with some thoughts.  Our purpose for this year’s conferences is to allow students a dedicated time to let the adults in their lives, both at home and at school, know their feelings about how virtual school is going for them.  Here are the prompts we’ve asked students to think about as they prepare:

- What is my morning routine for success?
- Something I like about remote learning is….
- Something challenging about remote learning is…
- When my teachers do these things it help to be successful:
- 2020 have been ____.  Here is how success will look for me this year.
- Something I wish my teachers knew about me:

Students have been asked to consider these prompts and respond in a slide deck - they started their reflections this week and will finish next week before conferences begin. Here is what a blank slide deck looks like:
What if I would like to speak about my student’s progress in a different or specific class? As with any time during the year, if you have a specific question about a class, feel free to reach out to that teacher for a conversation.
